Ms Sibongile Shongwe

Sibongile is a Procurement and Supply Chain expert who served as a Leader in large organisations. She also served and continue to operate at board level and has been instrumental in Supply Chain and Procurement transformation in different industries in the country, particularly in the public sector. She led different groups and managed Procurement expenditure of over billions of rands managing teams of between 10-200 people. As part of Evaluation and Audit committees, she implemented and managed Supply Chain and Procurement governance, risk and compliance process providing assurance to governance committees. Sibongile chaired and managed Adjudication committees making contracts decisions up to the value of R 300million. She also served at different board committees with values exceeding a billion rand and advised both Executives teams and Board members on Supply Chain Management. She was integral in the integration and empowerment of SMMEs in accessing markets within the public sector.

Sibongile is the co-opted member of the Presidential B-BBEE Advisory Council where she continues to contribute in the transformation of the country’s socio-economic landscape.  She advices government on new regulations and amendments to current laws in order to empower previously disadvantaged groups and address past inequality. She has served as a board member on the South African Diversity Council, served as a trustee of the CIPS Trust. She is a former executive member of the State Owned Procurement Forum (SOEPF). Sibongile consults in the SCM and Enterprise and Supplier Development environment. She has conducted Supply Chain Revious and developed policies procedures for various industries. Sibongile writes for various procurement magazines and speak at various conferences and events. Sibongile is an external supervisor and examiner for master’s at Unisa School of Business Leadership (SBL).
