INTRODUCTION TO PROCUREMENT AND SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT

This introductory course on procurement and supply chain management provides fundamental information on the principles, procedures, terminology, techniques and tools used in the field of purchasing and supply management. Current practices are examined, providing learners with up-to-date knowledge and skills to operate successfully in various enterprises. It also describes the importance of procurement and supply chain management in ensuring uninterrupted supply of life saving goods and services. Delegates attending this course will be able to upskill themselves, sharpen their workplace skills on procurement and supply chain management and gain in-depth understanding of its long-term benefits to the bottom line of their organisation.

This is a two (2) day intensive course. The course is conducted through:

<li>On-site (In house) courses for organisations or sectors’</li>
</ul>

This course is intended for anyone currently working in, or planning to work in,
procurement management, supply management, a purchasing department, or any
other area involved with procurement or supply.

Relevant work experience

Upon completion of this training course, participants will be able to:

<li>Be familiar with the basics of purchasing and the purchasing environment.</li>
<li>Understand the various approaches, tools, and strategies used in
negotiations.</li>
<li>Learn the basics of entrepreneurship.</li>
<li>Understand the marketing management and the strategies involved in
developing a marketing plan.</li>
<li>Become aware of the subjects in the field of price and cost analysis from a
purchasing and production perspective.</li>
<li>Be able to promote recognition and acceptance of professional status for
certified people involved in purchasing and supply chain operations among
other areas of business management.</li>
<li>Be able to develop performance standards and operational guidelines; which
can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of purchasing and supply chain.</li>
<li>Be able to develop and live by a code of ethical standards for purchasing and
supply chain operations under which modern business practices might be
more clearly understood and favorably accepted by the public in general.</li>
<li>Increase in personal confidence, satisfaction, and pride from direct
involvement in purchasing and supply chain operations.</li>

This practical two-day course is designed for personal development. The format of the workshop will be highly interactive, reflective and relevant to the participants. The facilitator will stimulate discussion relating to your work experiences.

A certificate of completion of course will be awarded to delegates who attend and
complete the training course as well as the award of CPD points.
