Join Us
You are cordially invited to attend AISCR’s first Game Changes Series for the year scheduled on February 28, 2023 from 16:00 to 18:00 CAT (8:00-10:00 CST). The session aims to provide insight into how supply chain management could be leveraged to foster US-Africa trade and investment relations. Between, December 13-15, 2022, the US government, led by President Biden, held the U.S-Africa Leaders’ Summit held in Washington, D.C. The summit brought together heads of state, government officials, business leaders, and civil society to strengthen ties between the U.S. and Africa. During the summit, the US government, through President Biden, plans to commit $55 billion in Africa to advance the priorities to support Agenda 2063.
However, many Africans believe it is time for the US to move beyond the unilateral trade preference program (the African Growth and Opportunity Act or AGOA) that has served as the centerpiece of the United States’ economic engagement for two decades and adopt a new approach that recognizes that African countries have evolved significantly and are ready for a more strategic partnership. Supply chain management is one of the key tools that can be used to foster efficient trade and investment partnerships between the US and Africa. Supply chain management is fundamental to efficient trade relations and it can be leveraged towards generating employment, enhancing domestic manufacturing capacity, and supporting renewable, green, and inclusive growth priorities, localization, and industrialization in line with the priorities of the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement, Africa Agenda 2063, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
AISCR’s SCM Game Changers series was introduced in 2021 and it is a monthly webinar that aims to empower supply chain professionals with best practices. Between 2021 and 2022, 20 Game Changers Series events have been conducted.
