Course Description

The importance of supplier relationship management (SRM) cannot be overstated as it is becoming increasingly clear that maintaining good relationships with suppliers is recognised as a critical factor in sustaining a competitive advantage. Businesses largely rely on their suppliers to reduce costs, enhance quality and develop innovations faster than their competitors’ suppliers can. This can be achieved through buildings efficient relationship management – networks of suppliers that learn, improve and grow.

This 2-day course provides procurement staff with a sound understanding of SRM and the key strategic role it plays for any business. The course also provides an insight into the growing importance of supplier relationships, the nature of buyer–supplier relationships and how to develop a successful SRM strategy.

Delivery Method

The format of the workshop will be highly interactive, reflective, and relevant to participants. Therefore, the course will involve lectures, Practical exercises, and case studies:

  • Lectures: approximately 60%
  • Practical exercises: Group interaction/teamwork on practical exercises and case studies approximately 40%

Assessment of this module will be through formative activities and a workbook will be provided.
