ABOUT AISCR
The African Institute for Supply Chain Research (AISCR) is a premier non-profit and independent institute with 501(c)(3) status, dedicated to advancing research, education, training, and developmental services in the field of supply chain management. AISCR focuses on addressing unique challenges and opportunities in supply chain management (SCM), fostering sustainable economic development, transformation, and inclusive growth to enhance livelihoods in Africa. Additionally, AISCR aims to strengthen US-Africa relations, aligning with strategic priorities such as US-Africa Trade and Investment, the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (ACFTA), Africa Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
At AISCR, our core mission is to build supply chain and leadership capabilities to drive innovation for government and industry. We therefore empower business and supply chain executives to employ smart and well-researched SCM practices locally and internationally, enhancing quality and margin management. By doing so, AISCR facilitates the development of competitive institutions that responsibly catalyze the growth Africa urgently needs.
HISTORY
AISCR’s operations started in South Africa in 2019 by its Founder, Prof Marcus Ambe, a seasoned supply chain professional who served the University of South Africa for 16 years before relocating to the United States. AISCR was launched at the Unisa Kgorong Function Hall on August 19, 2019. Since its establishment, AISCR has contributed immensely to the African supply chain management community through the provision of research insights, capacity-building initiatives, networking forums, and career development opportunities, making a meaningful impact in the field. The institute has expanded its global presence, with offices in Pretoria, South Africa, Dallas, USA, and Nairobi, Kenya. The U.S. office plays a vital role in raising awareness of AISCR’s mission and impact in Africa and the United States, as well as in securing the essential funding required for our projects.
